Leah Remini left Scientology two years ago, but she’s still dealing with the emotions of that exit after more than 30 years with the Church. In an exclusive clip from the Season 2 premiere of her TLC reality show, Leah Remini: It’s All Relative, the former King of Queens star explains why she’s now in therapy.
“I decided that it’d be a good thing for me to start therapy because we all go through things in our lives, and with leaving the Church of Scientology, you know, there’s a lot of feelings, and I really didn’t have an outlet for that,” she says. “Now I have somebody to talk to who could prescribe drugs … I joke!”
The actress also tries to convince her mom, Vicki, to talk to a professional, but doesn’t have much luck. (Her mother was also in the Church for decades.)
“I did suggest to my family that they do the same because we’re very emotional people, but we’re not used to dealing with certain emotions with each other, and I think it’d be very helpful,” Remini says in the clip.

Before her reality show debuted last year, the actress, 45, said during an interview with Ellen DeGeneres that leaving the religion seemed to have brought her family closer together. “I think now that we’re gone, we’re learning new ways to reconnect with each other,” Remini said at the time.
