Oh, man! Jason Segel turned to Hot Pockets to pack on the pounds for his role as late novelist David Foster Wallace in The End of the Tour — and while it might sound like a junk food lover’s dream, he said it was closer to a nightmare. During an interview with Kelly Ripa and Michael Strahan on Tuesday, Aug. 4, the Forgetting Sarah Marshall star said he ate “two Hot Pockets every three hours” to pack on “about 30, 40 pounds.”

“The first week is fun, and after that, every day feels like Thanksgiving night,” the 35-year-old said when asked if he was able to enjoy the splurge. “Like, you’re just done. You have no energy or anything like that.”

In fact, Segel said it was “horrible” because he had to pack on the pounds quickly. “By the end, I was running out of time. I had about two weeks left so I put myself on a Hot Pocket diet, which was two Hot Pockets every three hours…I was eating like 12 Hot Pockets a day. I was so sick of them and I swore I would never eat another Hot Pocket, and if you put a Hot Pocket [here] right now, I would eat them,” he joked.

Prior to adhering to the Hot Pocket diet, the funnyman had shed a significant amount of weight by “living healthy, exercising, and eating right,” he told Us Weekly back in July 2013, after showing off a trimmer figure. “No more midnight pizzas.”
