You tell ‘em, George! George Clooney was candid with his thoughts on GOP presidential hopeful Donald Trump during a Toronto International Film Festival press conference for his film Our Brand Is Crisis on Saturday, Sept. 12.

When asked what his opinion was on the business mogul's derogatory comments about Mexicans, the Hollywood mainstay was blunt.

“Clearly, what he said is idiotic, of course it’s idiotic,” the 54-year-old actor said. “Anybody who says as intolerant words as those should be laughed at and that’s pretty much [what] I think eventually history will do.”

Added Clooney of the media’s attention on Trump’s campaign (the media mogul is currently leading the GOP race), “Who’d have thought Donald Trump would be at 30 percent? You know, it ends up working out very well for the film, but that wasn’t, you know, we weren’t that good.”

In June, Trump, 69, made disparaging remarks about Mexico in a kickoff event for his 2016 presidential campaign.

“The U.S. has become a dumping ground for everybody else’s problems,” he said at the time. “They’re sending people that have lots of problems, and they’re bringing those problems with us. They’re bringing drugs. They’re bringing crime. They’re rapists. And some, I assume, are good people.”

The real estate mogul later refused to apologize for his words, saying that everything he said was “correct.”

“People are flowing through the borders and we have no idea who they are, where they’re coming from,” he told Us Weekly exclusively. “They’re not only coming from Mexico, they’re coming from all over South America and the world.”

In Our Brand Is Crisis, Sandra Bullock plays “Calamity” Jane Bodine, a political spin doctor who attempts to help South American political candidates turn their luck around. (Clooney recently revealed that the role was originally written for a man.)
