After growing up in Brooklyn, New York, Chris Rock rose to fame as an actor and stand-up comedian. His credits include In Living Color, The Immortals, The Longest Yard, Madagascar, Grown Ups, What to Expect When You’re Expecting, The Week Of and Fargo. He was a cast member on NBC’s Saturday Night Live between 1990 and 1993. Rock cocreated the sitcom Everybody Hates Chris ahead of its 2009 premiere, which was inspired by his Brooklyn upbringing. Starring Tyler James Williams as a young version of Chris, Rock served as the narrator on the four-season project.

The Grown Ups 2 star married Malaak Compton Rock in 1996 before welcoming daughters Lola and Zahra in 2002 and 2004, respectively. The couple split in 2016.
